The new Ubuntu is released: Gutsy Gibbon (download)

• You can only directly upgrade to Ubuntu 7.10 ("Gutsy Gibbon") from Ubuntu 7.04 ("Feisty Fawn") (see UpgradeNotes).
• Be sure that you have all updates applied to Ubuntu 7.04 before you upgrade.
• Before upgrading it is recommended that you read the release notes for Ubuntu 7.10, which document caveats and workarounds for known issues in this version.

All Drupal sites on the spike server have just been upgraded to Drupal 5.3

Core code as well as modules are all up to date.

Our server provider announced work on the power supply of their data centers, to prevent outages in the future. Therefore, the wyrdweb experimental server (spike.wyrdweb.eu) will be down 17 october from 04:15 AM CEST (amsterdam time) for about three hours - that's early morning (late evening in the US).

This event has passed succesfully - the server came back up before 7 AM without a glitch.

We have scheduled a graceful shutdown of the server before the work starts. Affected sites:

IP Innovation LLC has just filed a patent infringement claim against Red Hat and Novell. It was filed October 9, case no. 2:2007cv00447, IP Innovation, LLC et al v. Red Hat Inc. et al, in Texas. Where else? The patent troll magnet state.

Used as a synonym for The Microsoft Corporation. Windows XP SP2 is often called Windows XP Borg Edition, as it tries to assimilate all other software (or destroys it) as is the custom with the Borg. Also common with the borg, once you install 'Borg' edition, resistance is futile.

Windows XP Borg Edition f-ed up my PC, yo.
