RISK. SAFETY. CONNECTION.

RISK Minimising risk? Managing risk? No. The richest rewards come from taking risks. Well-judged risks, perhaps, but definitely not playing safe.

SAFETY Ironically, to take meaningful risks you must be safe. You need a safe platform to launch yourself from. There's a wyrd connectedness between risk and safety.

CONNECTION Every time you connect with someone, you take a risk. Maybe they'll misunderstand you. Maybe they're in the wrong mood to communicate right now. Maybe you'll say the worng thing. Being human, you try to make those connections anyway.

Your website or portal is like this. It's one of the means you use to connect your organisation to other people. Companies to customers. Clubs to members. Governments to citizens. Your website may be a connection for informing or for listening, for sharing or for interacting.

Building that web connection can be tricky. You need to think about what it is you want to say. You need to think about what your customers will be able to hear. The technology needs to work. The range of options is sometimes dazzling. The jargon can be impenetrable.

Nynke, Willem & Graham help with this. We do this by:

Building safety

  • We try to be clear about who we are and what we can do.
  • We try to listen to you and respect your objectives, abilities and concerns.
  • We try to bring real knowledge of the tools available to you.
  • We sometimes get it wrong. So we try to acknowledge our mistakes, learn from them, and move on.

Taking risks

  • We bring a bag of (technical and human) tools with us. We use them when they seem appropriate. If they don't seem appropriate, then we risk throwing them away and trying to do what's right for you.
  • We bring a wealth of knowledge and experience. If it doesn't seem relevant, then we're happy to take the risk of exploring new ideas.
  • We embrace the risk that you want to go on paying us for ever. In fact, we actively try to transfer skills to you, so you can ultimately control your own tools.

Connecting

  • The way we wish to connect with people has a positive impact on the way new software is socialised and can be integrated by people in a company or community.
  • We train and consult the trainers explicitly to make it fun and support people cross training and gaining from that, cutting down dependency on a few key people in your organisation.
  • We don't dip sheep, and adapt our ways to people's individual preferences as much as we can, making it easy for people to learn about new software, and to provide feedback so we can find what works and what doesn't and adapt it if need be.
  • Connections also contribute to education and ease of integration of new people, and empowers people to more easily deal with and handle the increasing complexity of doing business, no matter what your business is.
  • Connecting is an aid to developing creative intelligence in the business, and supports quality of products and services for your customers.

Nynke. Willem. Graham. Take risks with us. Safely.
